The Ho High Court has granted an ex-parte application by renowned lawyer, Tstatsu Tsikata to restrain the EC from gazetting the Hohoe parliamentary results that declared NPP’s John Peter Amewu as MP-elect.
The renowned lawyer argued that the court must stay the gazetting of the said parliamentary results until the areas; Santrofi, Lolobi and Akpafu are allowed to excercise their civic rights of voting to elect their own representative.
It will be recalled that 24 hours to elections, the EC disclosed that the afore-mentioned areas will not be allowed to cast their parliamentary ballots because the Commission was in the process of creating a constituency for them, after which they will vote to elect their representative.
It is unclear if Mr Tsikata’s application will prevent Mr Awewu from being sworn in on the night of 7th January 2021 when the new parliament convenes.
