Ghana has been rocked with another judgement debt after the Kumasi High Court slapped government with a $15.3 for the unlawful seizure of excavators.
Furthermore, government has been ordered to pay the mining company, Heritage Imperial Limited who have been prospecting for gold in the Apamprama Forest Reserve in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, an amount of GH¢600,000.
In a report by myjoyonline, lawyers for the mining firm argued that they procured a prospecting mining licence from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources on October 25, 2018.
According to them, they were firmly committed to their end of the contract till the galamsey taskforce raided and seized their mining equipment.
The court, presided by Justice Samuel Obeng Diawuo, stated that the raiding of Heritage Imperial Mining Company by the military taskforce was unlawful and without merit.
