John Mahama And Family Saved My Life – Ofosu Ampofo Says At Church Of Pentecost Thanksgiving

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the former Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly expressed his heartfelt appreciation to former President John Dramani Mahama for his exceptional support during a recent health crisis.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving service at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) in Sakumono, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo recounted how Mr. Mahama played a pivotal role in ensuring he received necessary medical treatment. According to Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, what initially seemed like a manageable medical procedure quickly escalated into a financial burden far beyond his expectations.

“When I was preparing for the surgery, I estimated the cost to be around $30,000, an amount I believed I could handle,” he explained. “However, as the treatment progressed, the expenses began to accumulate rapidly, placing me in a state of distress.”

In his moment of need, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo reached out to Mr. Mahama, who responded with unwavering support and generosity. The former president, along with his brother Ibrahim Mahama, undertook extensive fundraising efforts to cover the escalating medical bills.

“On my hospital bed, I contacted President Mahama and conveyed the challenges I was facing,” Mr. Ofosu Ampofo shared. “He assured me that he would become my chief fundraiser, and true to his word, he mobilized substantial resources alongside his brother Ibrahim. The sums they raised were significant and made a tremendous difference in my recovery.”

Mr. Mahama’s commitment went beyond financial contributions; he actively engaged his network to garner additional support whenever necessary. “He would often tell me, ‘Chairman, if there’s anyone you want me to speak to, just let me know; I’m your fundraiser.’ Each time I reached out, he made remarkable things happen,” Mr. Ofosu Ampofo added, highlighting the former president’s dedication and personal involvement.

During the service, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo also took the opportunity to acknowledge and thank the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, for his considerable support throughout his health ordeal. He emphasized that the collective efforts and prayers of friends, family, and colleagues were instrumental in his journey to recovery.

The Thanksgiving service was attended by various dignitaries, party members, and well-wishers who joined Mr. Ofosu Ampofo in expressing gratitude for his restored health and the support he received. The event underscored the spirit of unity and compassion within the NDC and the broader community, showcasing how collective efforts can make a profound impact during challenging times.
