‘It Is Not Easy To Provide Chop Money Everyday But Be Present For Your Families’ – Mahama Advises Men On Fathers’ Day

John Dramani Mahama, the 2024 presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on fathers to embrace their responsibilities and be present for their families. Addressing the Men’s Ministry of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church during a Father’s Day celebration, Mr. Mahama emphasized the importance of responsible fatherhood.

In his sermon, Mr. Mahama acknowledged the challenges associated with being a father, urging men to serve as role models and pillars of support within their households. “It is not easy to be a father, it is not easy to wake up in the morning and Aunty Lordina says, ‘Where is the chop money?’ to put food on your table for your children. It’s not easy to pay the rent,” he stated.

The former President highlighted the financial pressures fathers often face, using a common scenario to illustrate his point. “When the landlord is coming, you won’t be the father who will go and hide and say ‘tell him, I am not around,” he said, drawing attention to the importance of confronting and managing family responsibilities head-on.

Mr. Mahama expressed his hopes that fathers would rise to the challenge of fulfilling their financial duties, reinforcing the critical role they play in the stability and well-being of their families. His message was one of encouragement and support, aiming to inspire fathers to remain steadfast in their roles despite the inherent difficulties.
