It Is Everyone’s Responsibility to Stay Safe, You Have to Live Before You Can Vote – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has bemoaned the disregard of Covid-19 protocols by Ghanaians who are registering for the new voters’ card.

The Director General of Services at the EC, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe charged Ghanaians to take precaution and adhere to the social distancing protocols as it is everyone’s responsibility to stay safe.

Speaking on the Happy Morning show, Mr Quaicoe said, “you have to live before you can vote. Observe the social distancing protocol because COVID-19 is real. Know that if you contract the sickness you will pose a danger to yourself and others so you need to observe the social distancing.”

He noted that it is not about having lots of policemen on the ground to enforce the law, rather it is everyone’s responsibilty to stay safe.

“Everyone registering is 18 years and above so people should be responsible. They must know that if they don’t follow protocols they will be putting themselves in danger. No matter what the security persons do, it depends on the individual. But we have informed our people that anyone without nose mask must not be registered”, he stressed.

He called on Ghanaians to remain patient as they’ll ensure they move to every polling station to register everyone.
