In Opposition, Akufo-Addo Called Me ‘Simpa Panin’ But I Did Not Complain – Mahama Hits Back

The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has hit back at his main opponent in the 2020 election, Nana Akufo-Addo over his complaint to the clergy about the tagging of some elements in his party as ‘Akyem Sakawa Boys’.

According to former President Mahama, President Akufo-Addo has no right to complain about name-calling because he did worse while in opposition.

Former President Mahama cited the instances of then candidate Akufo-Addo referring to the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills as Professor Dolittle, and also referring to him (Mahama) as ‘Simpa Panin’ in the run-up to the 2016 elections.

The NDC flagbearer also added that even in government, President Akufo-Addo has referred to his critics as naysayers and professional Jeremiahs, and therefore has no moral right to complain about name-calling.

Mr Mahama also expressed worry about President Akufo-Addo’s angry-looking posture during his interaction with the clergy, advising him to keep a calm composure if he wants to be a good leader.
