Five personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service have been banned for illegally assisting foreign nationals to cross the border into the country.

The interdicted officers are Asst. Inspector Sarah Adubea, Asst. Inspector Isaac Ahiafor Agbeyenyega, ICO Juliana Anning, R.O Joyce Nketia and ICO Jennifer Owusu Ansah.

The five who were positioned at the Aflao Sector Command in the Volta Region allegedly aided the foreigners into the country through illegal means and unapproved routes.

The Ghana Immigration Officers in a statement said  that, what the officers did constitutes an offence under Section 52(1) of the Ghana Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).

It further expounded that, the unfortunate actions of the interdicted staff was against the COVID-19 protocols and laws instituted by the President to fight the deadly Covid virus.

The officers have therefore been asked to leave post as investigations are made into the matter.
