Ace Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has told President Akufo-Addo that he expects more from him after the sack of Adjenim Boateng Adjei, CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).
After an investigative piece by Manasseh titled “Contracts for Sale” exposed Mr Adjenim Boateng of engaging in conflict on interest, he was suspended by President Akufo-Addo.
In the said documentary, it was alleged that Mr Adjenim Boateng was using his office to sell contracts to the highest bidder.
A letter from the Presidency dated October 30, 2020, terminated the appointment of the PPA boss. It noted that the decision follows the submission of a report to the President by the Commissioner of Human Rights and Administrative Justice.
Speaking to Joy News, Manasseh noted that he was happy with the President’s quick reaction however he expects more from him.
It feels really good and it starts right from the president to CHRAJ. I commend the President highly for not sitting on this matter and not referring it to the suspicious sources that we know that when cases are referred to, we never get good results so I am happy that something concrete is being done about it,” he said.
He added, “….As far as I’m concerned, the President has done his work and has done it well. …We are getting some results, but we are still expecting more.”
