Kojo Addae-Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of DataBank, says he hopes the Black Stars do not qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Ghanaian football, he claims, has taken a nosedive, and it’s past time for the sport’s leadership and the government to work together to address the problems.
If Ghana qualifies for the World Cup, he noted, “all concerns impacting Ghana football would not be resolved,” adding that “all focus will be on the World Cup preparation.”
“I hope we don’t qualify for the World Cup because if we do, we’ll forget about all our difficulties,” he said on Happy FM’s Ohene-Bampoe Brenya.
“I’m sure we’ll all be delighted for the next four years if we don’t even qualify for the World Cup or win the AFCON and we make progress in correcting our problems.”
He also encouraged the present GFA to devise a football strategy for Ghana.
“We need a president who can create a blueprint for us that will be a legacy for him in years to come, just as we credited Ben Kuofie with some of our achievements.”
