Newly-appointed coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Slavko Matić, has admitted that coming to Africa for the first time was a big challenge but he was excited to take up the challenge.
He explained that his presence in the club was to win trophies and he was ready to make the club successful once again.
Speaking in an interview on the club’s Youtube Channel, Matic who had worked at various places including Qatar, China and Slovenia said he was motivated to accept the Hearts of Oak job by his desire to turn the fortunes of the club around.
Matic who got his pro license in 2014 described Hearts of Oak as the best club in the world and he envisage to do a lot to ensure the team play good football.
“Africa is a big challenge and I come into a very big club. We want to make a very big success and I want to try to find a way to play good football and to have the opportunity to give a chance to all the other players.
“We also want to take trophies and as I said Africa is a big challenge and I come into a very big club for me it’s the best club in the world.
According to the 46-year-old, prior to his arrival at the club he watched some of their matches and believe the team needs to work harder to be better and have team work.
“I watched some games on the CD and what we must do is we must work hard, we must have team work, we must work smart and we must respect each other. They (player) know also which club they represent, a big club with big expectation”, the coach said.
