I’ll Say Goodbye To Ghana On Jan 7, 2025; Retire, Go Rest In Kyebi – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has said he has no plans to follow in the footsteps of some African presidents who amend their country’s constitution and end up staying in power for more than two terms.

Speaking in an interview on Kumasi based Pure FM the president said he’ll be relinquishing his seat on January 7, 2025 and go and find rest in his hometown, Kyebi in the Eastern region.

He said he has no desire to go through the troubles of amending the constitution to stand for a third term.

On the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership ahead of the 2024 elections, Akufo-Addo said he backs no candidate.

However, he’ll be willing to throw his weight behind anyone who is elected to lead the party in 2024.

The President also said the John Atta-Mills, John Mahama administration which took over from the NPP took the nation backwards after all efforts by Kuffuor to prosper the nation.

For this reason, he said, the NPP’s determination to break the 8 in 2024 at all cost to ensure Ghana does not return into the hands of the NDC again.
