I’ll Free Suspected ‘Western Togoland’ Secessionists – Angry Judge Fumes

An Accra circuit judge presiding over the case of some 13 suspected persons involved in secessionist attacks in the Volta Region, Susana Eduful has threatened to release the suspects over slow pace of investigations.

According to the GhanaReport, the judge, suspecting deliberate delay tactics by state prosecutors, gave a one week ultimatum to conclude investigations.

“If after one week, you are not able to say anything to advance the case, I will discharge the accused persons. You cannot continue to do this,” the judge said.

Lawyers for the accused persons pleaded for bail, however, the judge declined and further remanded them.

The 13 suspects were arrested in connection with attacks on police stations in the Volta region.
