If We All Engage In Politics, Nobody Will Trust Us To Be Neutral – Asantehene Advises Chiefs

The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II has advised chiefs to desist from engaging in open partisanship by endorsing politicians, in order to be rightly acknowledged as neutrals.

The revered Asante Monarch, while addressing a gathering of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs admonished the Chiefs to be mindful of their role as arbiters in the event of any conflict.

According to the Otumfuor, Chiefs should always be mindful of the fact that they are symbols of unity and portray themselves in a manner that will not undermine their authority and the role they play in society.

The Monarch’s comments come after some chiefs including the Okyehene and Dormaahene made comments which many deem to be open endorsement of the two main political parties.
