If Atta Mills Had A Ghost, You’ll Be In Jail By Now – Napo Replies Mahama

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, has hit back at former President John Dramani Mahama following a recent statement he made. Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had earlier suggested that the ghost of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, would have slapped Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, over a comment he made about Nkrumah.

“If Nkrumah had a ghost, he would have slapped NAPO,” Mahama remarked at a rally, drawing significant attention.

In response, while addressing supporters during a campaign event in Adugyama in the Ahafo Ano South East constituency of the Ashanti Region, Dr. Prempeh delivered a stinging rebuttal. He stated that if the late former president, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, had a ghost, Mahama would have found himself behind bars.

“If Mills had a ghost, John Mahama would be in jail by now,” he retorted, a statement that was met with loud cheers from the audience.

Dr. Prempeh is currently on a campaign tour across the Ashanti Region, promoting the NPP’s message of “Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future.” As part of his interactions with constituents, he has consistently criticized what he describes as the poor governance record of the Mahama administration, particularly highlighting the severe power crisis, commonly known as “dumsor,” which plagued the country during Mahama’s tenure.

“We have a President, John Mahama, under whose watch Ghanaians slept in darkness for four years, but he thinks Ghanaians have forgotten about this record,” Dr. Prempeh pointed out.

Additionally, NAPO emphasized that the best person to protect key initiatives like the Free Senior High School policy is the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He urged voters to rally behind the NPP to continue building on the party’s achievements.

Dr. Prempeh’s campaign tour will cover all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region, a traditional stronghold of the NPP, as the party seeks to consolidate support and ensure a high voter turnout in the upcoming elections.
