If Akufo-Addo With No Military Background Is Commander In Chief, Why Can’t Prof. Naana Be Head Of Economic Management Team – Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has slammed critics who say Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang is not fit for running mate because she has no experience in Economics.

Many voices have reacted in opposition to former President John Dramani Mahama’s choice of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, citing among other things her deficiency in the field of Economics. According to such critics, since the vice president is the chair of the Economic Management Team, he/she must possess a sufficient proficiency in Economics.

However, speaking in an interview on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii Sen yesterday, Mr. Asiedu Nketia shot down that argument describing it as baseless.

According to Mr. Nketia, Nana Akufo-Addo is commander in chief of the Ghana Armed Forces even though he is a trained lawyer and has no experience in military affairs.

“Is Nana Akufo-Addo a military man? Is he not the commander in chief of the Armed Forces? If a lawyer can oversee the entire military machinery, why can’t a lecturer become a vice president and head the Economic Management Team?”. He asked.
