The donation was made during the 2024 Fetu Afahye festival, which marked a significant milestone, as the people of Oguaa celebrated the 60th anniversary of the festival. The event also coincided with the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of Osabarima Kwesi Atta II as Oguaamanhene.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who was the special guest of honor, emphasized the historical significance of Oguaa in the development of education, law, and commerce in Ghana. He highlighted the need for these key sectors to continue advancing in the Oguaa Traditional Area, encouraging its people to embrace growth and development.
In his address, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II lauded Osabarima Kwesi Atta II for his humility and exemplary leadership, calling on the people of Oguaa to rally behind their leader for the continued progress of the area. He emphasized the importance of education as a pillar of development and expressed confidence that the Oguaamanhene would make a meaningful impact with the newly established fund.
In an emotional response, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II thanked his long-time friend, the Asantehene, for the honor bestowed upon him and the people of Oguaa. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the donation would benefit the youth, who represent the future of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
The festival was graced by several high-profile dignitaries, including Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and the NDC’s running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. Other ministers of state and government officials were also in attendance to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Oguaa people.
The Fetu Afahye festival, an annual celebration, is one of the most prominent traditional festivals in the Central Region of Ghana.
