I Still Stand By My ‘Incompetent Mahama’ Comment – Bawumia

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has insisted he still stand by his description of former president John Dramani Mahama as incompetent.

The Vice President in the build up to the 2016 elections described John Mahama as incompetent on several platforms, insisting the former president was running the country down.

Speaking on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ on Tuesday, Bawumia noted that the unprecedented ‘dumsor’ under the former president while electricity tariffs continued to increase was insensitive.

When quizzed whether Ghanaians can also call him and President Akufo Addo incompetent since some of the very things that were happening under erstwhile Mahama administration is still happening now, Bawumia said “I stand by those comments I made against the former president.

“I think that let us put this in contest. Because we had a government that put us through four years of dumsor, that was very difficult for businesses and individuals, difficult for the productivity of the nation as a whole. We slept in the dark that was four years of dumsor.

“Through this dumsor, increases in electricity prices was taking place on an average of 45 per cent every year even though we have dumsor.

“In addition to this, we had electricity prices being increased, teacher training allowances were cancelled, nurses training allowances were cancelled and that was insensitive.”
