I Have Not Spent Party Money On Miami Trip – Sammy Gyamfi Denies ‘NPP Lies’

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has addressed recent allegations suggesting he misappropriated party funds for a lavish trip to Miami, USA, with his wife. Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam program on Monday, July 1, 2024, Gyamfi categorically denied the claims.

Gyamfi clarified that the video circulating as evidence against him is outdated. While he acknowledged visiting Miami in the past, he firmly denied staying at the hotel in question, which purportedly costs $3,000 per night, and refuted allegations of receiving $42,000 from the party.

“On Saturday, I was at Holy Spirit Cathedral for Mawuena Trebarh’s funeral. So, how could I have been chilling in Miami? On Sunday, I was at Suame for the regional organizer for Ashanti, Chairman Alhassan’s mother’s funeral. Even before that, on Wednesday, I was in Accra hosting NDC 360 from our studios. Everyone watched me. I was on set with Honourable Jinapor discussing the power sector and Free SHS. On Thursday, I was in the High Court supporting my good brother and friend, the minority leader, Honourable Ato Forson. So, when could I have been in Miami at an expensive hotel?” Gyamfi questioned.

Gyamfi dismissed the allegations as “ridiculous” and “nonsensical,” asserting that no reasonable person would believe them. He emphasized that he had never stayed at the specified hotel and had not been in Miami recently. He confirmed that the video in question was from a previous trip to Miami with his wife shortly after their marriage.

The NDC communications officer attributed the allegations to efforts aimed at tarnishing his reputation due to his outspoken criticisms of the current government. He announced his intention to pursue legal action against the media outlets that published the story.

The NDC has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations and Gyamfi’s rebuttal.
