Following his victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia delivered an inspiring victory speech, reiterating his commitment to his vision for Ghana and his dedication to addressing the concerns of the people.
Dr. Bawumia, who won the primaries with an impressive 61.47% of the total valid votes cast, expressed his determination to lead the nation with a clear sense of purpose. In his speech, he emphasized, “I have my own vision and priority. I will listen to your concerns because we are partners in its process.”
He extended an invitation to the youth of Ghana, calling on them to join him on his journey to the presidency and assist in realizing his vision for the nation. “I am as concerned as my fellow countrymen and women,” Dr. Bawumia declared. He highlighted the ongoing work of economic recovery and a noticeable uptick in GDP growth.
In a display of unity and collaboration, Dr. Bawumia expressed his willingness to work closely with all other aspirants who contested in the presidential race. He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stating, “I am determined to work with all of them and all our supporters to break the 8.”
Dr. Bawumia’s closest contender in the primaries was Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), who secured 37.41% of the votes. Other candidates included former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, with 0.76% of the votes, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh, who polled 0.41%.
