President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has confidently declared that his administration has delivered commendable results despite the myriad challenges it has faced, including the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing attendees at the 13th Biennial and 51st Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana in Kumasi, the President highlighted the significant achievements made across various sectors of the economy during his tenure. He urged Ghanaians to continue supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by entrusting their mandate to his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to sustain and build upon the progress achieved.

“In all good conscience, I can assert that I have not betrayed the mandate the good people of Ghana conferred on me on two successive occasions,” President Akufo-Addo stated. He credited the accomplishments of his government to the support of the Ghanaian people, the church, and, above all, the grace of Almighty God, for which he expressed his profound gratitude.

The President also called for continued cooperation and support for his potential successor, Dr. Bawumia, and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately known in Kumasi as NAPO. “I pray that you extend the same level of cooperation to my successor, God willing, my Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his dynamic running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh,” he added.

President Akufo-Addo’s endorsement of Dr. Bawumia comes as the NPP gears up for the next general elections. The President’s appeal to the church and the broader public reflects his confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to lead the nation and continue the work initiated by the NPP government.

The conference in Kumasi provided a platform for the President to connect with religious leaders and emphasize the role of faith and collaboration in national governance. His remarks underscored the importance of unity and collective effort in overcoming challenges and achieving national development goals.

As the NPP prepares for the upcoming elections, President Akufo-Addo’s endorsement of Dr. Bawumia signals a strong push for continuity in leadership, with a focus on maintaining the trajectory of progress and stability established during his administration.
