I Don’t Think Akufo-Addo Will Hand Over Power Peacefully If He Loses 2020 Elections – NDC MP

The NDC MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini has cast doubts over the preparedness of President Akufo-Addo to hand over power peacefully, should he lose the 2020 polls.

According to the honourable MP, the chaos manifesting itself in the affairs of the Electoral Commission is testament to the fact that the President has no intentions of peacefully handing over power.

The honourable MP alleged that person’s appointed by the President to the Electoral Commission are deliberately deleting names of purported NDC sympathizers from the register in order to make the President’s re-election easier.

Mr. Suhuyini also claimed that the infiltration of persons into the security services is also a worrying trend that lends credence to the fact that the President is intent on holding on to power, even if the people say otherwise.

In a Facebook post, the MP made references to the instances in 2008 and 2012 where then candidate Akufo-Addo lost and took the nation to Tain and the Supreme Court respectively, asking if people believed the President will easily relinquish power if he were to lose.
