I Do Not Want To Be In A Position To Comment on Amidu’s Performance – Akufo Addo

President Akufo Addo has stated that he do not find himself to make remarks about the performance of the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.

Speaking on Cape Coast based ATL FM, the president insisted that time will come for the special prosecutor to account to the good people of Ghana.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor was set up by Presdient Akufo Addo to tackle and prosecute issues of corruption in the country.

However, it has faced criticisms from Ghanaians and CSO’s for its failure to live up to expectations.

In reaction, President Akufo Addo said, “we fulfilled a campaign promise that we will set it up. I put in there a man who is not a member of my party; very well known as a member of the opposition and a high ranking member of it. But a man I have come across in public life and felt had the capability to do the work. He is a man of integrity who was keen and interested in the fight so I put him there”.

“We have done our best to find the necessary resources for his office to work well and he is working. I’m sure at some stage or another he is also going to give an account of his stewardship in that office. I do not want to be in a position to second guess what he is doing and also to be making comments like ‘I’m not happy about what this Special Prosecutor is doing’. Coming from the President, those kind of remarks have a different kind of impact,”he added.
