Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey has vehemently denied multiple charges of rape and sexual assault following a lengthy investigation by London’s Metropolitan Police. The 31-year-old midfielder, who previously played for Arsenal, faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women between 2021 and 2022.

Partey’s legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, issued a statement asserting his innocence and confirming his full cooperation with authorities throughout the three-year probe. “Thomas Partey categorically denies all charges against him,” Wiltshire said. “He has engaged transparently with the investigation and looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name in court.”

The charges include two alleged rapes against one woman, three against another, and a sexual assault accusation from a third complainant. Partey is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 5 August 2025 to formally respond to the allegations.

The case has emerged at a pivotal moment in Partey’s career, with his Arsenal contract recently expiring and speculation about his next club move. The allegations have stirred significant public discussion, particularly in Ghana, where supporters have urged restraint, emphasizing the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

As proceedings unfold, Partey’s legal team remains confident in his eventual exoneration. The outcome will not only impact the player’s future but also contribute to ongoing debates about conduct, justice, and due process in professional athletics.
