The Municipal Chief Executive for Krachi East in the Oti Region, Francis Kofi Okesu, has been found dead in a hotel room in Kumasi.
Okesu was found n*ked in his bed with his arm hanging lifelessly by his body on Sunday, September 4th 2022.
Traces of sp*rmatozoa were found on his thigh, indicating possible s*xual intercourse in the final hours of his life.
Reports say Francis Okesu checked into the unnamed hotel in Kumasi late Friday, September 2nd 2022.
He travelled there with his driver, Sylvester Attah, who later left to lodge in a different hotel.
However, his driver reportedly could not reach him on Sunday, September 4th, which was the day of their scheduled return to Dambai.
He informed hotel authorities who lodged a complaint with the police.
Police investigators reportedly had to break down the door to Francis Okesu’s room Sunday to find his lifeless body.
The Regional Crime Scene team of the police proceeded to the crime scene for investigations to commence.
Authorities revealed a search of the victim’s room is yet to turn up any incriminating evidence – so far.
Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah and Municipal Chief Executive of Oforikrom, Abraham Antwi and other security operatives have been to the scene.
The body has been deposited at the KATH Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Mr Okesu was confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive for Krachi East in October 2021.
He previously worked as a public relations officer (PRO) for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Krachi East Office and also had a stint with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
