It was quite an awkward spectacle yesterday when President Akufo-Addo showered praises on his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia right in the presence of Alan Kyeremateng, a man described as the Vice President’s main rival for obvious reasons.
President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, and Minister for Trade, Alan Kyeremateng, all made the trip to Walewale to commission the Walewale watermelon factory, which forms part of government’s one district-one factory initiative.
President Akufo-Addo, in his address to the people of Walewale, where Vice President Bawumia hails from, described his deputy as a 1st class helper who has been of tremendous help to him and his government.
The President’s approval of his deputy, though appropriate, was quite awkward, considering the fact that they were accompanied on the trip by the man tipped as the main rival to the Vice President in the NPP’s flagbearership race.
