House of Chiefs Reproaches Mahama Over Tribalistic Remarks – Demands Apology

The National House of Chiefs has condemned what it describes as “ethnocentric sentiments” by Former President John Dramani Mahama.

In a press statement on Tuesday, September 1, signed by its President, Togbe Afede XIV, the House of Chiefs demanded an apology from the Former President for speaking against the chiefs and people of Akyem via his Facebook page.

The Chiefs said the post which was originally written by NDC MP for Bolgatanga, Hon. Isaac Adongo and shared by Mr. Mahama is “divisive, tribalistic and unwarranted” and it promotes disunity amongst the good people of Ghana.

“We are using this medium to condemn in no uncertain terms, this tasteless post being promoted by the former president,” a part of the statement read.
