Hawa Koomson Shooting Incident: Allow The Police To Investigate – Oppong Nkrumah

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has called on Ghanaians to remain patient and allow the Police to investigate the shooting incident involving the Special Development Initiative Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson.

According to him, it’s premature to call for her sack since there were many sides to the story.

Hawa Koomson had on July 20, admitted on Adom TV that she fired a gun at a voters registration centre in Kasoa. According to her it was a move to protect herself as her security personnel had not yet resumed work.

There have since been wide condemnations from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs),and personalities with many calling on President Akufo Addo to sack her, however, the President is yet to make any comment on the issue.

Reacting to the issue in an interview, Oppong Nkrumah insisted there had been many contradictory reports on the issue therefore it’s important the Police are allowed to bring a conclusion to the matter.

“That is why the Police has to investigate the circumstances. For example, she has given an account, some bystanders have given an account, there is a third set of accounts that is floating in the media. If I ask you today what is true, you will have difficulty in telling me because you were not there. That is why the Police has to do their investigation and tell us after their investigation, this is what they found,” he stated.
