GUTA Pledges Commitment To Help Widen Tax Net

The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has pledged its commitment to assist the government in widening the tax net to raise more revenue for socio-economic development.

The vice president of GUTA, Clement Boateng, has, however, questioned government delay in reintroducing road tolls to rake in more revenue.

“The Ghana Union of Traders Association is always ready to assist the government to widen the tax net to generate revenue for development,” Boateng said on Accra-based FM

“GUTA is all for expanding the tax net and that is why we were never against the E-Levy. We, however, thought that 1% would have been a better choice than what was agreed on,” he told the host Kofi Abotsi.

“We believe that if road tolls were still active, the government would have been able to rake in some amounts for the country,” Boateng said.
