Gov’t to Inspect Covid-19 Protocols Compliance At Workplaces

Government has announced a random inspection of Covid-19 safety protocols at offices, shops and factories nationwide.

The exercise is a move by the Ministry of Employment and Labour to ensure strict compliance with and enforcement of all Covid-19 protocols and guidelines by government and WHO.

A statement by the ministry said it has noticed with grave concern the spread of the novel Coronavirus across workplaces.

The inspection team will be particularly interested in the existence of an isolation room for persons who develop Covid-19 symptoms at the workplace while awaiting transfer to an appropriate health facility.

It will also conduct risk assessment of potential interaction between workers and non-workers at the workplace, train management and workers on the correct use, maintenance and disposal of protective gears.

The statement urged employers and employees to adopt best practices to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.
