The Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, led by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has asked religious leaders to submit any prophecy or spiritual “insight” of national relevance to his office for review before it is made public.
In a statement on Sunday, August 10, 2025, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah said the request was aimed at covering prophecies about high-profile political figures, governance, national security, or public stability.
While framed as a call for “responsibility” and “discernment,” the move raises questions about whether the government is quietly tightening control over what can or cannot be said about its leadership, particularly in these politically sensitive times.
The statement also urged prayers for the President, the government, state institutions, bereaved families, and the nation following a recent accident involving government officials, military personnel, and NDC executives.
It ended by stressing the government’s “commitment” to work with faith leaders for Ghana’s peace and prosperity, though critics may see the new directive as less about partnership and more about policing the pulpit.
