Gov’t Shouldn’t Be Political About Tariffs – Nana Yaa Jantuah

Former Director of Public Relations and External Affairs at the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) Nana Yaa Jantuah has cautioned the government not to be political about tariffs.

Her comment comes on the heels of the proposals by the management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWLC) to the PURC to increase tariffs.

“Government shouldn’t be political about tariffs, this is my advice to them,” she said on the First Take on 3FM with Dzifa Bampoh on Tuesday May 10.

She was also of the view that “You cannot burden people with tariffs when there is no quality of service to the people and consumers should pay for what they consume.”
