Give Me Time – Mohammed Salisu Tells GFA Over Black Star’s Calling [Video]

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Okraku has met Mohammed Salisu in England as the player’s Black Stars absence continues to prolong.

Kurt Okraku asked the Southampton defender if he does not agree to play for the Black Stars is he, Okraku going to be the one to play in a hearty conversation.

The 23-year-old centre-back explained to the GFA President that everything is in the hands of leaders of the association, adding that players are many, but it’s the FA that decides those to work with.

“If you don’t play, will I be the one to? [amid laughter],” Kurt Okraku asked.

Salisu then replied, saying: “the problem is everything is done with you [authorities].

“Without you, things don’t work. Hope you understand my point? As for players, they abound. But the issue lies with you [authorities].”

Since his explosive first season with Real Valladolid in the Spanish LaLiga, the GFA has been following Salisu to play for the Black Stars but he has always insisted he is not ready to play for his country yet.

He has not provided any other reason for saying he is not ready to play for Ghana yet, but various reports say he was asked to pay money to play for one of Ghana’s junior teams.

Mohammed Salisu has been solid for Southampton this season until his form dipped recently, which he attributes to Ramadan fast.

He has made 34 appearances for Southampton across all competitions this season, scoring his debut and only goal for the club in the EFL Cup.
