Former Archbishop of the Kumasi diocese of the Catholic Church Emeritus Archbishop Peter Akwasi Sarpong has questioned the kind of democracy the country practices.
Speaking in an interview on Akoma FM on Sunday, July 26 he wondered if the democracy being practiced is truly for the people or just a few.
He said the democracy as practiced in Ghana is only fraught with deceit, intimidation, bribery and corruption, resulting in politicians buying votes to go to Parliament in order to enrich themselves at the expense of the taxpayers.
“The democracy as practised in Ghana is a caricature of democracy. “It’s a caricature of democracy because what is democracy? Is it intimidation, is it deceit? Is it bribery? Is it corruption?” he quizzed.
