Ghanaians Will Accept E-Levy If They Understand Its Benefits – Koku Anyidoho

Ghanaians will accept the E-Levy provided they are adequately informed on its benefits, according to Samuel Koku Anyidoho, the former general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, many individuals are opposed to the levy’s adoption because they do not comprehend its benefits, which is owing to the government’s incapacity to sell the charge to Ghanaians.

As a result, the former general secretary asked the government to expand public education about the E-rationale Levy’s in order to gain greater support from residents.

“When Value Added Tax (VAT) was introduced, there was the same volatility — a lack of understanding of what VAT would mean for the country.” I’m not sure, but it’s possible that they [the government] aren’t communicating adequately about the E-Levy.”

“If they execute it well, Ghanaians would understand that there is a reasoning and a basis for it,” says the author.
