Ghanaians Refused Entry Despite Land Border Reopen

Ghanaians to and from neighboring countries are not being permitted entrance just hours after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced that the land and sea borders have been restored two years after they had been closed.

Ghanaians Refused Entry Despite Land Border Reopen

This is because, according to 3news, while Ghana has reopened its borders, the neighboring nations have yet to do so to allow free movement of commodities, services, and people.

This was discovered on 3FM’s Sunrise monitoring the morning after the president’s announcement.

On Sunday, March 27, President Akufo-Addo stated that all land and maritime borders have been opened.

“Fully vaccinated travelers would be granted admission through land and sea borders without having to pass PCR and Antigen tests in their destination country.” Citizens and foreign residents in Ghana who are not completely vaccinated must undergo a 48-hour PCR test before to arrival and will be offered immunization at the point of entry, according to his 28th Covid-19 update.

A local journalist in Aflao, where Ghana and Togo share borders, told Sunrise that Togo Immigration officials barred several Ghanaians from entering Togo early Monday, March 28, since the Togo government had not yet announced the reopening of its border.

As a result, the Ghanaians were denied admission, according to the journalist.

Nana Boadi of West FM in Elubo, Ghana’s border town with Ivory Coast, claimed several Ghanaians are experiencing similar difficulties.
