Ghanaians Descend On Rapper Sarkodie On Twitter For Failing To Criticize Akufo-Addo Like He Did To Mahama

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie has incurred the wrath of thousands of Ghanaians who have expressed disappointment in him for failing to hold the Akufo-Addo administration to the same strict standards he held the erstwhile Mahama administration to.

Sarkodie was one of the most vociferous Ghanaian celebrities during the administration of John Dramani Mahama.

The prolific rapper, in a series of tweets and even in some songs he composed during that administration, lamented the hardship in the country at that time.

Sarkodie’s songs; ‘Dumsor’ and ‘Inflation’ in particular was very popular in the erstwhile administration as well-composed songs which were very critical of the then government and which was well endorsed by the current ruling party (then in opposition).

The multiple award-winning rapper, however, has remained largely quiet under this administration, making many people wonder if he is sympathetic to the ruling Party.

Last year, the musician came under severe criticism after a verse he sung in a collaboration with Kuami Eugene was deemed to be an endorsement of President Akufo-Addo, who was seeking re-election at the time.

Today, a post the rapper made calling on government to provide the right environment for Ghanaians to hustle and be productive has been deemed by many to be a ‘soft punch’ on government unlike the ‘heavy punches’ he meted to the Mahama administration.

The musician has received a lot of bashing from some disappointed Ghanaians under the post.
