Political activist, Kwame A-Plus has admonished President Akufo-Addo’s decision to go for 170 million euros to establish a new national bank when the country already have a struggling NIB and ADB as well as GCB Bank and CBG.
A-Plus could not fathom why the President would spend more than GH¢21 billion to collapse banks that needed about GH¢9 billion to survive and then end up going outside the country to beg for loans to start a new one.
Ghana beyond aid but you are borrowing money to start a national bank”, A Plus averred.
His reaction comes after the Finance Ministry and the European Investment Bank signed an agreement for the provision of the €170-million facility for the establishment of Development Bank Ghana (DBG).
The signing took place in Belgium after President Akufo-Addo’s meeting with the President of the European Investment Bank, Dr Werner Hoyer.
