GH₵1.6m Tax Waiver Approved By Parliament To Procure Earthquake Devices

An amount of Gh₵ million has been approved by parliament for the securing of devices and equipment to survey and check activities of the weather and earthquakes.

The Gh₵ million   project is in relation to a Memo of Understanding agreement signed between the South Africa government and the government of Ghana for a science co-operation in 2013.

The approval is to compliment Ghana’s radio astronomy project and the association of satellite earth observation group to be positioned at Kutunse for the Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute (GSSTI).

The agreement with the GSSTI of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) in a joint work with the Square Kilometer Array South Africa will institute a means to train and educate students in Astrophysics, Cosmology, Astronomy and Space Sciences in Ghana.


Dr. Mark Asibey Yeboah presenting the Finance Committee’s report explained that, they were hopeful in the project to provide highly skilled human capital and its development for various fields of the Ghanaian Economy such as mechanical, software, technology and structural engineering and the diverse sectors in science and technology.
