After failing to release the 2021 Senior High School placement on time, the Ghana Education Service (GES) notified a publication that it has yet to convey a new date for the public, particularly students, to await the release of the postings.
In an interview with the Ghanaian Times newspaper, Prof Kwasi Opoku Amankwa, the Director-General of GES, stated that his organization, in concert with the management of CSSPS, will issue the placement in early March this year.
Mr Kwasi Kwarteng, a spokesman for the Ministry of Education, in agreement with the GES Director, told UTV that placements would be released on March 21, but that the secondary school postings had not yet been released as of the time of writing this post.
The cause of the delay is currently unknown, but a source close to the Ghana Education Service (GES) has told EducationWeb that the April 4, 2022 school reopening date for first-year pupils would be postponed.
According to an unsubstantiated rumor, the 2021 recipients of the Free SHS program will report to school in mid-April 2022 to begin academic activities for this year, due to a delay in the announcement of the school placement.
The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has revealed that nearly 1.39 million students will benefit from the Free SHS/TVET this academic year, following the inclusion of TVET students in the free secondary school education policy.
Dr. Adutwum said the new development is part of the government’s aim to ensure that the majority of students who pass the BECE continue their secondary education for free, according to an interview with Nhyira FM broadcast by EducationWeb.
“When the school placements are out in the 2022 academic year, a total of 1.39 million kids are likely to benefit from the Free Senior High School and Technical Vocational and Education Training (Free SHS/TVET),” Osei Yaw added.
Prospective students have been warned to be aware of dishonest persons who contact them in advance of the release of the 2021 computer placements in order to acquire their desired school option.
“Finally, we want to reassure parents, guardians, candidates, and the general public that we are still dedicated to providing a smooth, merit-based SHS placement process that follows established guidelines,” a GES representative stated.
In accordance with the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ministry of Education (MoE) has also said that it is collaborating with several security agencies to catch school placement fraudsters and scammers.
“The public is advised to avoid paying money to unscrupulous individuals offering to secure their chosen selections ahead of the 2022 computerized school placement into Senior High/TVET schools,” a representative for the Ministry of Education said.
“The public is assured that the Ministry is working along with security authorities to ensure that any group of persons caught in this illicit act should be put to face the law,” the Public Relations Officer continued in the news statement.
