Final year students of Kongo Senior High School are expected to pay a total of Ghc421.00 for the damage they caused to school properties. The current development is a directive from the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service and is in consonance with recommendations by a committee set up to investigate the disturbances in the school and find solutions to them.
It could be recalled that early this year, the management of the school took a unilateral decision on some payments to be made by students. The student then were expected to pay a total of Ghc429.00. This was according to some worried parents.
In a letter dated 6th September 2022 sighted by A1Radioonline.com, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service approved the recommendation in the investigation report to surcharge all final year students for causing damages to school properties during the students’ riot on 6th June 2022.
The letter further directed the students to pay the stated amount before the end of the examination on 23rd September 2022.
