A former Chaplain for USA military Hospital and General Secretary of Asanteman Association of Georgia Atlanta, Very Rev. Jubilant Boakye Danquah, has charged members of Ghana Medical Association to lead a crusade against any attempt by article 71 holders in the country from attending medical checkups outside Ghana.
The man of God cannot understand why Ghana is blessed with qualified and experienced medical doctors but leaders in the country always spend a lot to make them travel abroad for their medical checkups.
He called on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Kingsford Alban Sumana Bagbin to step aside if he considers that his health status is not given him much attention to exercise his duty in the House.
He indicated the speaker’s continuous absence in the House is creating a lot of disputes among members which should not be so.
He maintained that the speaker’s inaction in the house can destroy the peaceful atmosphere as the country is known to be a leader in democracy.
The Reverend minister also charged the government and other stakeholders to thoroughly investigate the circumstances that led to the Appiate explosion and the current one that occurred at Obuasi.
According to him, a continuous explosion in such circumstances should be a matter of concern to our leaders.
He, however, commended the Committee for the 6million fine put on the Maxam Company that caused the explosion but charged the government to go deep into the investigation and if there’s the need to punish anyone for any negligence, it should be done to serve as a deterrent.
He commended philanthropists for supporting the Apiatse victims where he also pleaded with well-meaning Ghanaians to emulate such acts.
