Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has refused to accept Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) report on him that he uses the most abusive language in the media space.
According to Wontumi, several top hierarchy of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have used abusive language in the media, however, he’s only being made a target while the others are spared.
He cited NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama as referring to Akyems as sakawa people.
He noted that Sammy Gyamfi has constantly insulted the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jane Mensah and several others but still managed to make it to the list.
He also wondered the motive behind the MFWA report to exclude the National Chairman of the NDC, Ofosu Ampofo, when he had been caught on tape stating that he would sponsor people to kidnap girls across the country.
“I am a very humble person, but you can’t just come and ride over me. I always try to defend the NPP and anytime I speak on air, I make sure I speak about God’s gospel first”.
“If they are looking for the person who has been most abusive, then I will say it is former President Mahama. He and his running mate came to visit Otumfuo and out of disrespect, they told him everybody’s child is bad. But I had the same opportunity to visit my King, and I humbled myself by kneeling down”, he said.
The August edition of the Media Foundation for West Africa’s (MFWA) Language monitoring on Radio had cited Chairman Wontumi, as the most abusive individual on radio.
