Pilots and airline operators within the West African sub-region have been sensitised on a new technology that seeks to prevent airline accidents and improve plane performance.
The technology will monitor the performance of airlines and predict maintenance through artificial intelligence.
Speaking to the media, Mr Daniel Acquah, Deputy Director General, Technical, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority said his outfit ensures that all airlines meet at least the minimum requirements to function.
He said the technology requires training for staff of various airlines within the country and as time goes on, it’ll become a mandatory requirement for all airline activity.
He made this known during a West Africa Aviation Accident Prevention and Airline Performance Optimization Conference organised by the Star Navigation Group LTD, Flight Path International in partnership with the Aircraft Accident & Incident Investigation & Prevention Bureau (AIB) Ghana.
Prempeh Akwasi, Commissioner of the Aircraft Accident & Incident Investigation & Prevention Bureau said the technology will go a long way to ensure airplane accidents do not occur in Ghana as it’ll be monitored right from the airport, through flight till it lands.
He said traditionally, maintenance on planes are carried out after reports from pilots or the civil aviation authority however, this new technology will monitor and provide prompt reports on whether a plane requires maintenance.
