Anne Sophie Avé, the outgoing French Ambassador to Ghana, has said all hands must be on deck in the fight against terrorism in Ghana.
The West Africa Centre for Counter-Extremism (WACCE) few months ago warned of possible terrorist attacks in Ghana.
Talking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (24 August) Avé said: “To ensure that terrorism does not spread is not a job for the police or the army alone … the state also has a duty to reinstate control that will ensure the standard of living off citizens.”
“Terrorism is a complicated thing because there are so many groups with different agenda … each has its own aims and ideologies.
“When I arrived in Ghana, I knew that terrorists were not active here and so when I arrived my focus was on intelligence sharing… while ensuring that we did not step on each other’s toes,” she said.
