Fake Military Officer Busted At Checkpoint

Military Personnel on duty at VRA Hospital checkpoint in Akosombo in Eastern Region have arrested a 24-year-old man for impersonating a military officer.

Suspect Abubakar Sadique was arrested Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at about 4:30 pm.

He was arrested by two military officers Sargent Ofori David and W.O.1 Assiam Eric all from 1BN, Michael Camp and currently on operational duty at Akosombo Hospital Barrier.

The suspect came down from a commercial vehicle and introduced himself as a Soldier from 1BN.

But upon interrogation by the military in the presence of some witnesses, Sargent Ofori David detected that the suspect Abubakar Sadique was not a Soldier as he claimed despite showing a picture on his phone profile fully dressed in military uniform.

He was arrested and handed over to the Akosombo Police

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the suspect has been charged for falsely pretending to be a public officer contrary to section 237 of Act 29/60 and is expected to be arraigned before the court by the investigator in charge of the case Chief Inspector Homey Ophelia.
