Ernesto Yeboah Describes His Arrest By Police As A ‘Kidnap’

Leader of the Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah has described his arrest last Friday night as a “kidnap” by security forces.

According to him, the police was unable to give a reason why they arrested him but rather insisted that his arrest for organising a vigil for George Floyd was an “order from above”.

Speaking to Joy News, Ernesto Yeboah said, “I was kidnapped from the space [Independence Square] because there was no warrant of arrest, there was no reason for my being taken away…”

He explained he only followed the police because of the hype given the vigil and wanted to avoid any disruption to it.

“I joined them [police] to the Ministries Police Station, and then in about 30 minutes, I was relocated to the Accra District Police Station,” he narrated.

Ernesto Yeboah was arrested on Friday, June 6, 2020 for leading a vigil against racism and police brutality after the despicable murder of George Floyd which has sparked a global protest.
