Election Day: Drama In Asawase As Muntaka’s 7 Year Old Daughter Votes On His Behalf

We are still in the early hours of voting in Ghana’s 2020 general presidential and parliamentary elections.

It has been a generally peaceful exercise thus far with pocketed incidents of drama at some polling stations and consistuencies.

One of such event has happened at the Asawase Consistuency involving incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Muntaka Mubarak.

In a surprise move, Angel FM reports indicate that the legislator allowed his underaged seven (7) year old daughter to thumbprint his parliamentary ballot paper on his behalf.

His reason? The lawmaker is reported to have said that his daughter is his beloved, hence the decision to make her thumbprint the ballot on his behalf.

It is however unclear if the law permits such an act especially when the eligible voter is present.
