EC Hires Over 200 Experts To Assist In Election Results Collation
As Ghana moves toward its pivotal 2024 election, the Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its commitment to an accurate, transparent, and error-free electoral process. In a strategic enhancement of its operational capabilities, the EC has recently onboarded over 200 professionals from quantitative fields, including mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science, to support data accuracy and elevate the reliability of election results.
Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairperson of the EC, outlined these efforts during a media interview on Tuesday, November 5. He emphasized that the Commission’s preparations are centered on transparency and precision, crucial elements to sustaining public trust in the electoral process. The newly recruited experts, according to Dr. Asare, will play a key role in preventing data discrepancies, applying their analytical expertise to vital tasks such as data collation, vote tabulation, and statistical analysis—processes essential for ensuring the integrity of the election.
“These are people who have a background in mathematics, actuarial science, and statistics and will be assisting with quantitative methods,” Dr. Asare stated, highlighting that these experts would be working closely with returning officers at the constituency level to reinforce the collation of results.
In addition to the 200 specialists, the EC has recruited over 280,000 individuals to support the election process in various roles. This large-scale recruitment effort is part of the EC’s proactive strategy to mitigate any potential errors that could undermine the democratic process. Dr. Asare emphasized that this initiative reflects the Commission’s dedication to upholding democratic standards and maintaining credibility through accuracy and transparency.
“The Commission has already recruited over 280,000 individuals who are going to work on this election. We have also recruited people who are going to help with the collation,” he added.
This latest move by the EC has been seen as a positive step in addressing the complex demands of electoral management and ensuring the public’s confidence in the 2024 election results. As the election approaches, the EC’s reinforced operational structure aims to build a foundation of trust and transparency, affirming its commitment to a democratic process that upholds Ghana’s core values.
