Drunkards Are Better Managers Of The Economy – Bridget Otoo Slams Atta Akyea
Media personality Bridget Otoo has sharply criticized Samuel Atta Akyea, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa South, following his alleged comments about National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama. Atta Akyea reportedly suggested that Mahama, a former president, is a “drunkard,” contrasting him with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who he described as abstaining from alcohol.
During a campaign event for Dr. Bawumia in his constituency, Atta Akyea praised the NPP’s presidential candidate, stating, “Ghana is fortunate to have an economist who is composed, knowledgeable, and abstains from alcohol. We are truly blessed. Ghana is on the verge of having a president with wisdom, a leader who is astute and refrains from drinking alcohol.”
Bridget Otoo responded strongly to these remarks on her X (formerly Twitter) page, expressing her disapproval of the MP’s insinuations. In her reaction, she pointed out that despite Atta Akyea’s praise for Bawumia’s sobriety, the Vice President’s leadership has coincided with significant economic challenges in Ghana. She sarcastically suggested that if Bawumia’s sober leadership led to the current economic hardships, perhaps alcohol consumption might make one a better manager of the economy.
In her tweet, she remarked, “You mean to tell me @MBawumia put us in this hardship while sober? Then I’m sorry, you need to advise him to start drinking, or better still, people who drink alcohol are better managers of the economy.”
