Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s campaign team has made an allegation against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Election Committee, stating that they are planning to use a fake voter register during the presidential primaries scheduled for May 13th.
In response to the alleged use of a fraudulent voter register during the upcoming presidential primaries, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s campaign team is demanding the full and accurate voter register for both the presidential and parliamentary primaries.
The campaign team of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor sent a letter to the Electoral Commission (EC) requesting the full voter register for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries. They stated that they had previously asked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the voter register as required by the regulations governing the elections.
According to the team, their analysis of the information provided by the NDC revealed several anomalies in the voter register that was presented to the EC, further supporting their concerns about the validity of the register.
Dr. Duffuor’s campaign team has therefore requested that the Electoral Commission (EC) organize a round-table discussion with relevant parties to address the issues surrounding the alleged use of a fraudulent voter register in the upcoming presidential primaries. The team expressed concern about the potential consequences of using such a register and urged the EC to take action to avoid any negative outcomes.
Furthermore, the team warned the EC of the possible legal implications of the actions and inactions of the NDC Elections Committee in relation to the voter register.
“We will wish that as the Body that shall supervise the election, you bring all key actors to an urgent round table discussion within your ambit to iron out the issues so as not to be ambushed in a minefield that has catastrophic consequences,” the team demanded.
Three candidates, former President John Dramani Mahama, Kojo Bonsu, a former Mayor of Kumasi, and Dr Kwabena Duffuor, a former Minister of Finance, are contesting for the NDC’s presidential primaries.
